IFA turned into a monitor show again this week, and the interesting part is subpixel layout rather than screen size. Alienware brought two OLED panels to Berlin, one of them a 32-inch 4K screen that drops the white subpixel and lands at $699, while Acer answered with a range built on mode switching and a 1000Hz esports panel. Lexar's contribution was a portable SSD thin enough that the USB-C socket had to go.
A 32-inch tandem WOLED without the white subpixel
The AW3226Q is a 31.5-inch flat screen running 3840×2160 at 165Hz on LG Display's newest tandem WOLED, and what separates it from the rest of the 32-inch OLED field is an RGB-stripe subpixel layout in place of the usual WRGB arrangement. It is only the second 32-inch screen announced this year to use that panel, after the Asus ROG Swift PG32UCWM shown at Computex in June. TFTCentral's spec breakdown puts the cost of the change plainly: removing the white subpixel is why the screen certifies at VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 rather than a brighter tier, and why SDR brightness is quoted at 250 nits. The 1000-nit peak figure applies to a 3 percent window, so it is a small-highlight number rather than anything sustained. Alienware credits the layout with better colour volume and sharper text, neither measured yet on a retail unit, though the subpixel fringing an RGB stripe removes is a well-documented complaint on earlier OLED panels.
The rest of the sheet is standard 2026 flagship: 1.5 million to one contrast, 10-bit colour, 99 percent DCI-P3, factory calibration to Delta E under 2, HDR10 and Dolby Vision, and both G-Sync Compatible and FreeSync Premium Pro certification. Video input is the part to check first. There is one DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.1 ports, so 4K at 165Hz in 10-bit runs over DSC rather than raw link bandwidth, and the USB-C port is a data port with 15W of power delivery, well short of single-cable laptop duty. The glossy coating suits the contrast and works against that 250-nit SDR figure in a bright room, which is the real decision a buyer has to make about this screen. Alienware has it shipping globally this fall at $699, with a three-year warranty that covers burn-in.
The refresh ceiling moves again
Alienware's other Berlin panel is the AW2527HX, a 24.5-inch 1920×1080 screen on Samsung Display's fifth-generation Penta Tandem QD-OLED, rated at 560Hz and built with Team Liquid for tournament use. It uses a true RGB-stripe arrangement as well, the fix for the text fringing that has followed QD-OLED since the first generation, and a matte AGLR coating instead of the gloss on the 32-inch. HDR sits at DisplayHDR True Black 600 with a 1500-nit peak. The connector is the detail worth noting: TFTCentral lists DisplayPort 2.1 at UHBR13.5, enough to carry 1080p at 560Hz without DSC as long as the GPU on the other end also runs UHBR13.5. Availability is Q1 2027, with pricing still to be set.
Acer went past that number. KitGuru's rundown of the IFA lineup has the Predator XB253Q U1, a 24.5-inch 1080p panel rated at 1000Hz, arriving in Q1 2027 at $1,099.99. Most of the range leans on dynamic frame rate switching rather than one native mode: the 27-inch Predator XB273K V7 drops from UHD to 1080p at 500Hz, the 34-inch Nitro XZ340CKR P trades 5120×2160 at 180Hz for 2560×1080 at 360Hz, and two Nitro models switch three ways down to 520Hz. The one that stands out is the ProDesigner PE270X P, a 27-inch 5120×2880 creator monitor at 165Hz with a 330Hz QHD mode, a 2304-zone mini LED backlight, DisplayHDR 1400 and Delta E under 1.
Lexar's 3.8mm SSD and the cable it needs
The Muse measures 80 x 48 x 3.8mm and tapers to roughly 1mm at the edges, in 512GB and 1TB capacities, which Tom's Hardware calls a standout against the external drives it has tested. Getting there cost the standard connector. The drive has no USB-C socket at all: a proprietary magnetic cable Lexar calls SnapLink attaches over pogo pins and terminates in USB-C at the host end, and a separate magnetic sleeve is what holds the drive against a phone. The pitch is direct 4K ProRes capture at up to 120fps on compatible iPhones.
Rated throughput is up to 1,050MB/s read and 1,000MB/s write, ordinary 10Gbps external territory rather than anything USB4. Two things are worth waiting for in reviews. A 3.8mm enclosure carries very little thermal mass, so the number that matters for a long recording is sustained write speed once the cache fills rather than the burst figure, a point Guru3D raises as well. The proprietary cable is a spare-parts problem: a lost or damaged SnapLink cannot be swapped for any USB-C cable in the drawer, so its replacement price and availability are part of what the drive costs to own. Lexar has not announced pricing, and availability is the last quarter of 2026.
