Frore Systems has been promising to replace laptop fans with vibrating piezoelectric membranes since 2022, and until now the public results amounted to a Zotac mini PC and a single module in an Intel reference design. Lenovo's IFA concept puts four of them in a 10mm chassis and, more usefully, states what they are rated to cool.
Four AirJet modules under a 20-watt ceiling
Project AeroBlade is a 14-inch machine with nothing rotating in its cooling path. Four AirJet Mini modules sit either side of the CPU rather than on top of it, per ComputerBase's hands-on with the concept in Berlin. Lenovo rates the sample for a 20W processor and runs Intel Lunar Lake in it, which keeps CPU, GPU, NPU and LPDDR5X on one package and leaves no second large heat source to plumb.
That 20W figure is worth separating from the module ratings. Tom's Hardware puts the current AirJet Mini at 7.5W each, which reads as 30W across four, while Lenovo and Frore both quote roughly 20W as the supported processor power. The gap is what the packaging costs, since heat has to cross the chassis to reach the modules, and the vendor 20W is the number to plan around until a retail unit gets measured.
The gain over a fully passive design is real: ComputerBase puts sustained fanless ultraportables at 10 to 12W, 15W at the outside. Solid-state is not silent-and-free either, since the modules draw power and move air like anything else, but it buys several watts with no bearings to seize. Guru3D notes the concept has no bottom vents, and that AirJet generates more back pressure than a miniature fan, enough to pull air through channels too restrictive for a blower. No underside intake could mean less lap and bedsheet lint drawn in, though the design is not sealed.
Two things keep this in the concept column. The AirJet Mini was shown at Computex 2025 and has taken over fifteen months to reach a laptop, losing height from 2.8 to 2.65mm and weight from 11 to 7 grams on the way. And a 20W ceiling puts the technology in thin-and-light machines, the segment with the least room in its bill of materials for a novel cooling system, which is why ComputerBase doubts Lenovo ships it at all. Acoustics, skin temperature, throttling and battery cost are all unmeasured.
Eizo's first OLED covers the panel for one year
The ColorEdge CG3200X is a 31.5-inch 3840×2160 QD-OLED at 60Hz with a built-in colorimeter for unattended self-calibration and a 24-bit LUT, which is Eizo reaching OLED in its reference line years after everyone else. Full-field brightness is quoted at 300 cd/m², peak at 1,000, maximum contrast at 1,500,000:1, and SDR contrast is adjustable from 500:1 to 2,000:1 in steps of 100.
The automatic brightness limiter gets two modes. Eizo says its dimming threshold sits higher than usual, and that when dimming is unavoidable the monitor offers Highlight Dimming, which pulls back only the brightest regions and leaves midtone and shadow gradation intact, or Uniform Dimming, which drops the whole frame evenly. On a screen sold for colour work an ABL that shifts tone values with image content is a correctness problem, not an irritation, so a choice of failure mode is the right instinct. Eizo also advertises a correction circuit for colour fringing on high-contrast edges, which ComputerBase reads as a sign the panel is not a fifth-generation RGB-stripe QD-OLED, since that subpixel layout removes the artifact by geometry and leaves nothing to correct. That is an inference from the feature list, not a confirmed panel identification.
The warranty is where the enthusiasm should stop. Eizo covers the CG3200X for five years, longer than most, but the OLED panel itself gets one year and is capped at 10,000 hours of use, and burn-in is excluded from cover altogether. Ten thousand hours is about five and a half years at seven hours a working day, well short of the five years covering everything else in the box. By comparison the Alienware AW3226Q shown at the same event covers burn-in for three years, on a $699 gaming screen. Eizo has not set a price and expects to ship this winter.
An AIO you are meant to open
Alphacool's Core 2 XT series is a closed-loop cooler assembled from the company's custom water-cooling catalogue, and the point of it is that the loop can be refilled and its parts swapped instead of the whole unit going in the bin when the pump dies. The block is a Core 1 derivative with its ARGB lighting isolated from the coolant, the integrated Core DC-LT 3 pump runs to 3,800 RPM, the radiators are all-copper NexXxoS ST30 HPE in 240, 280, 360 and 420mm, per KitGuru's rundown of the lineup.
That addresses the one durable complaint about AIOs: a five-year-old unit with a tired pump or evaporated coolant is scrap however good the radiator still is. Unlike the other two, this one is on sale now, starting at €249.98, so the arithmetic is simple enough: a serviceable cooler has to outlast roughly two sealed ones to justify itself. The assumption underneath is the one to watch: a right-to-repair design is only as good as the spares pipeline behind it, and nothing in the announcement commits to how long the pumps, blocks and fittings stay stocked.
