A storage subsystem that beat Argonne's Aurora by a factor of 2.46 is no longer the fastest entry on the IO500 Production list, and nothing about its measured performance changed. The committee moved it to the Research list because the file system underneath it is neither documented nor generally available enough to be reproduced by anyone else. Aurora is back at the top by restoration rather than by winning anything.
The score stands, the ranking does not
SCNet submitted two systems at ISC 2026 built on Sugon's ParaStor F9000 all-flash storage and the ParaStor file system. Tom's Hardware has the numbers: the larger AICS-A ran the benchmark from 500 client nodes and 64,000 client processes for an IO500 score of 79,110.05, with 26,888.39 GiB/s of bandwidth and 232,754.76 kIOPS of metadata performance. A comparable Aurora Production result scored 32,165.90 with 10,066.09 GiB/s. The 10-client entry, AICS-B, scored 7,839.30 against Aurora's 2,885.57, about 2.72 times faster.
The committee's own statement is narrow. It says the submission did not satisfy the criteria for the highest level of reproducibility, citing a lack of widely available architectural detail and limited general availability of the file system, and that Argonne's DAOS system is restored to the top of both the Production and Production 10-Client lists. Nobody has disputed the measurement. The results remain on the Research list, which is where IO500 keeps systems whose performance is real but whose architecture cannot be independently examined.
That distinction is the whole point of having two lists. Nobody is rebuilding Aurora's 230PB subsystem in a lab, but DAOS is open source, downloadable and documented, so the architecture can be understood and reproduced at a smaller scale, which is the standard the Production list is actually measuring. ParaStor is proprietary and, on the committee's reading, insufficiently described to clear that bar. The same reasoning already keeps Huawei's OceanFS and SuperFS entries on the Research side. One oddity survived the reshuffle: the SCNet-A entry still carries a "fully reproducible" badge in the Research list's own reproducibility column, while Pengcheng Laboratory's CloudBrain submissions sitting alongside it are marked proprietary.
Fifth-generation QD-OLED turns up in work monitors
MSI's PRO MAX 341QPXW14G is a 34-inch 3440×1440 ultrawide at 144Hz, and the panel rather than the refresh rate is the reason to look. Guru3D's breakdown puts it on a fifth-generation QD-OLED with an RGB-stripe subpixel layout, the arrangement that clears up the coloured text fringing that has followed QD-OLED since its first generation, along with a Penta Tandem stack MSI credits with roughly 30 percent more light-emission efficiency and a DarkArmor coating the company says is 40 percent deeper in ambient light. Both of those are vendor figures with no independent measurement behind them yet.
The rest of the sheet is desk equipment rather than esports kit: 99 percent DCI-P3 and 97.4 percent Adobe RGB, a claimed Delta E at or below two, DisplayHDR True Black 500, a three-device KVM, 98W of power delivery on the primary USB-C port and 15W on the second, and an OLED Care routine that stretches the mandatory panel-refresh cycle to 24 hours. KitGuru has it on sale in the US at $749.90, with a companion app that maps brightness and volume onto MacBook keyboard keys.
ASUS is taking the same panel class somewhere else at IBC. The ProArt PA27USD and PA32USD are 4K QD-OLED screens at 240Hz with 1,000 nits of peak brightness and motorised calibration hardware built into the chassis, the 32-inch model carrying two 12G-SDI inputs for uncompressed video against one on the 27-inch. The PA27UCDV in the same range drops to 120Hz and trades SDI for two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one of them supplying 140W. Not every new ultrawide has gone OLED either: Philips' Evnia 34M2C5601QA is a 34-inch 3440×1440 at 200Hz on a Fast VA panel with a claimed 4,000:1 typical contrast, a 1500R curve and its own KVM, trading the response time of OLED for VA contrast.
A pocket hub that happens to hold a drive
Sharge's Disk Pro 2 is an M.2 enclosure taking 2230, 2242 and 2280 drives up to 8TB, with a fan, a full-size HDMI port, USB-A, SD and microSD slots, and a magnetic back that snaps onto MagSafe or Qi2 phones. Tom's Hardware's hands-on of the Ultra model states the limit plainly: the interface is capped at 10Gbps, so a modern M.2 drive saturates it on its own before a single video or USB device is plugged in. That makes it a travel hub with storage inside rather than a fast external SSD, and the difference matters most to anyone thinking of using it as a working scratch disk.
Inside that ceiling it measures well, landing second behind Corsair's USB4-based EX400U in PCMark 10 Storage with a Lexar 710 fitted, which is a useful reminder that responsiveness and available bandwidth are not the same measurement. The Ultra adds HDMI 2.1 at 4K 144Hz, a faster card reader and a 1.5W idle floor over the Lite's HDMI 2.0 and 5W. The change worth the most over the original is the removable USB-C cable, since the captive nine-inch cable on the first model was the part destined to fail first, and the new three-position fan switch is welcome even though a drive behind a 10Gbps cap rarely works hard enough to need it.
